FAQ

The following questions and responses are often asked by our existing and prospective customers. Most of these fall into questions about the products themselves, how they are installed, and if insurance pays for a home access or vehicle lift.

Sales & Service

How much does the lift I want cost?

The price can vary due to the vehicle/device configuration. Sometimes the way a vehicle is manufactured can require a little more time or extra equipment from the manufacturer. Obstacles like rear cargo well storage or stow-n-go seating can require a little more time to work around on installs or require additional parts to adapt the mount around those. If there are extra part(s) requirements, we will let you know when estimating cost. For Harmar products, most extra parts incur additional costs.

The same thing happens with a stair lift. Some staircases have curves or angles where it may be necessary for extra tracking and other means to travel a more sophisticated path.

Typically, we charge a rate of $75 per hour for installations. Many installations fall within the 3 hour range to run and connect the wiring and anchor the lift. Other things like adding a hitch or special requests can take considerably longer. We do installations carefully to keep your vehicle looking its best. In most cases, installation times are given with the quote. If we run over, we’ll usually eat the cost.

Does your company finance lifts?

Unfortunately, we do not offer financing for adaptive lifts. We do accept most major credit cards. Your local bank or credit union is also a great place to look for a lower interest loan to help pay for your lift.

Does my insurance cover the cost of a lift and installation?

Most insurance companies, including Medicare, DO NOT cover the cost or installation of lifts for the home or your vehicle.

Is there anything to help cover the cost of my equipment?

There are some programs available to help you pay for a new vehicle lift. Also, a new vehicle lift can possibly make you eligible for sales tax rebates on the cost of equipment and installation, sales tax on applicable motor vehicles, and savings through auto dealerships that have mobility programs. For more information on this, please contact us. More information will be available online, soon.

How long does it take to have a lift installed?

Depending on the lift and complexity of the installation, this varies quite a bit. The only really solid way to know is to talk to one of us about your specific set-up or needs. This allows us to give a more accurate depiction of time and cost. Most lifts take a few hours. Only a few of the lifts we retail take up to a full day, with most ranging from a few hours to half-a-day.

Can I drop off my vehicle and wait at your showroom while my equipment is installed on my vehicle?

Sure—but if you’d like, we can pick up your vehicle from your home and do the installation at our warehouse. When we are done, we will bring your vehicle back to your home and educate you on how it works, there. This is a complimentary service that we offer to customers who are busy or do not want to spend half their day sitting in our office waiting on their vehicle. But the choice of whether you would like to take advantage of this service is completely up to you.

Can you install a vehicle lift at my home or residence?

We have been known to install vehicle lifts at residences providing there is a level paved surface, the area is low traffic and the nature of the lift lends itself to mobile installation; sophisticated lifts may require special tools needed at our facility that are not easily transported in our large cargo van. Most basic consumer lifts such as exterior platform lifts and boom lifts can be installed at a residence.

Warranty and Repair

Do you make repairs to lifts sold by other mobility dealers?

Lift&Go Mobility specializes in Bruno and Harmar products. We are certified by these manufacturers for installation, repair and service of their products, even when sold by other dealers.

However, if you are looking for warranty work and you did not purchase your lift through us, your best bet would be to go through the mobility dealer that originally sold the device to you. If you no longer have access to that dealer, then we can peform warranty repair work. Your parts should be covered, but the labor charges will not. New mobility lifts should always be purchased through a reputable, local dealer that can honor your equipment's warranty, should the equipment have any issues.

If your equipment is out of warranty, we perform repairs and service at a rate of $75 per hour, plus any parts or supplies that need to be replaced. If you have a lift brand that is not Bruno or Harmar, we can often still make repairs, but this will be done at our discretion. Please check with us if you have a lift or access device in need of repair.

What do repairs cost?

If repairs are covered under a manufacturer warranty on a device sold directly from us, we honor repairs for free for the stipulated timeframe in the manufacturer's warranty. All other repairs are done at a rate of $75 per hour, plus the cost of parts. We charge an hour minimum for all repairs not covered under warranty.

Retail Policies and Other Information

Do you share my information?

NO!!! We follow strict HIPAA Guidelines required of all HME Businesses. We collect your information to provide you the best service possible and to aid in payment processing when filing for a lift under special programs (i.e. VA bidding for vehicle lifts.)

Do you require a deposit to place an order for a lift?

Yes, we require at least a 50% deposit on all lifts and access products before ordering. This helps us pay restocking fees and return freight in the event that the customer changes their mind after ordering. Deposit amounts left over after return freight and the manufacturers' restocking fees are paid will be returned to the customer.

When is the total payment due?

Payment is due at the time of installation.

What happens if I order a lift, but I do not have it installed within a reasonable amount of time in order to postpone the remainder of payment?

Your deposit will be forfeit to Lift&Go Mobility after 60 days of inactivity. If special circumstances occur that prevent you from getting your lift installed after ordering, please notify us so we can make special arrangements if necessary to avoid forfeiting your deposit.

Are lifts returnable?

Once a lift is ordered, the deposit can only be returned after return freight and restocking fees are paid in full. Once a lift is installed, we will honor adjustments either up to 30 days following the date of installation, or whatever the manufacturer's warranty for the product type mandates.

If a lift is returned for non-warranty reasons, we will return the remaining amount paid for the lift after charges for installation, de-installation, and re-stocking are considered. It is extremely difficult (if not impossible) for us to return products to the manufacturer, especially after the products have been opened/unpacked and installed. The devices we sell are configured for each customer's specific situation, so lifts are not easily returned or sold as used.

Do you purchase/sell used equipment?

Rarely. We do not often purchase used equipment for several reasons: The equipment could have possibly been warped or damaged by the previous owner, and it's often difficult to assess the severity until the lift is re-installed and operated. Also, adaptive equipment is pre-configured by the manufacturer for specific customer applications. The chances of being able to easily sell used equipment to someone else with the previous owner's exact set-up is very slim.

Sometimes, special cases are made and we will make an offer on a used device, but this is rare and is completely at our discretion. However, we will take old equipment as donations to turn around and give to organizations like the MDA or use for scrap parts, depending on the condition of the equipment in question.
